Marvel Knights Imprint Returns with Spider-Man, X-Men, and Hulk

Back in the day, when Marvel was on the brink of bankruptcy and looking for new initiatives to dig them out of the gutter, they conceived of two important imprints that would help lead them through the rough patch. One was the Ultimate Universe, and the other was Marvel Knights.

Launched in 1998, Marvel Knights would ultimately lead to some truly classic material -- namely Brian Bendis and Alex Maleev's Daredevil run. Though set in the Earth 616 continuity, the idea behind Marvel Knights has always been to take up-and-coming creators and put them on iconic characters and provide a new spin.

The line dwindled in recent years, really just becoming a banner for various animated projects based on Marvel comics. However, Marvel is bringing the line back in October with Marvel Knights: Spider-Man by Matt Kindt and Marco Rudy, followed by Marvel Knights: X-Men by Brahm Revel in November, and Marvel Knights: Hulk by Joe Keatinge and Piotr Kowalski. Hulk will run four issues while the others clock in at five.
