President Obama Gives George Lucas a Medal

Earlier this week, George Lucas was honored by President Barack Obama the National Medal of Arts in the East Room of the White House.

The Star Wars creator and filmmaker was awarded for his "contributions to American cinema," along with 12 other recipients. Stated the White House in a press release, "By combining the art of storytelling with boundless imagination and cutting-edge techniques, Mr. Lucas has transported us to new worlds and created some of the most beloved and iconic films of all time."
