Harrison Ford Talks Potential for Indiana Jones 5

There's long been talk about a fifth Indiana Jones movie, but we haven't heard so much as a peep on the franchise since Disney bought Lucasfilm back in October. However, that doesn't mean star Harrison Ford hasn't thought about dusting off the fedora for another go as the beloved archaeologist.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Ford mentioned that he's still up for Indy V, even at his ripe old age of 71. "We've seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it's perfectly appropriate and okay for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn't necessarily have to kick as much ass," the actor explained. "To me, what was interesting about the character was that he prevailed, that he had courage, that he had wit, that he had intelligence, that he was frightened and that he still managed to survive. That I can do."

Financially, a fifth Indy movie makes sense; the last installment, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, ended up grossing nearly $800 million worldwide on a budget of $185 million. The real question is whether George Lucas and Steven Spielberg would be interested in returning. Last we heard, Lucas was breaking out a story, though no script was written at the time.

Since then, Lucas has "retired" from big-budget features, stating that he wants to concentrate on making smaller, independent films. Meanwhile, Spielberg has a slew of other projects on his plate. Still, it is possible that, much like Disney's upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, the next Indiana Jones movie could be taken over by a new generation of filmmakers.
